Drone R&D Engineer

Our client is a Ukrainian manufacturer of autonomous deep-strike UAVs capable of operating in GNSS-denied environments. Working in close collaboration with combat units and local manufacturers, the company develops a family of tactical UAVs designed to rapidly integrate innovations and maintain a technological edge on the battlefield.
We are looking for an experienced R&D engineer who has expertise in working with FPV drones and bombers.
Key Responsibilities

Development and optimization of embedded systems for copter-type UAVs (FPV, bomber drones).

Integration, configuration, and testing of flight control systems based on Betaflight.

Design, development, and debugging of communication modules and communication protocols (telemetry, RC, video/data links).

Working with sensors, autopilot systems, navigation systems, and onboard electronics.

Participation in the design and continuous improvement of UAV software architecture, including networking protocols, control algorithms, and fault-tolerant systems.
Requirements

3–5+ years of experience in embedded development.

Hands-on experience with FPV drones and/or bomber-type UAVs is required.

Deep understanding of communication mechanisms and link types used in UAVs (telemetry, command/control, video, mesh, RF links, LTE).

Practical experience working with Betaflight (configuration, customization, integration).

Strong knowledge of software architecture, algorithms, networking structures, and communication protocols.

Experience in Automotive or related real-time domains (RTOS, safety-critical systems).

Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.

Practical experience with Linux and communication interfaces such as CAN, UART, SPI, and Ethernet.
Nice to have

Experience working with fixed-wing UAVs, including deep-strike platforms.

Knowledge and hands-on experience with ArduPilot, PX4, iNav, or similar platforms.
